Among the salts of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, the disodium salt is the most important.

1. It is an important complexing agent. It can also be used in electroless copper plating, gold plating, lead-tin alloy plating, electrochemical polishing of steel parts and solutions before silver plating of copper.

2. laced by EDTA-Na. Also used in detergents, liquid soaps, shampoos, agrochemical sprays,color photographic materials, bleaching fixers, water purifiers, pH adjusters, anticoagulants, etc.

3. In the reduction initiation system for the polymerization of styrene-butadiene rubber,disodium EDTA is used as a component of the active agent, and is mainly used for complexing ferrous ions to control the polymerization rate.

In total,EDTA-2Na is used in detergent, liquid soap, shampoo, agricultural chemicals, fixer solution for development of colour film, water cleaner, PH modifier. When stating the redox reaction for the polymerization of butyl benzene rubber, it is used as part of activator for the complexation of metal  ion and control of polymerization speed.
