Magnesium sulfate heptahydrate is a magnesium-containing compound with the molecular formula MgSO4 (or MgSO4 7H2O). Anhydrous magnesium sulfate is a commonly used chemical and drying reagent. However, magnesium sulfate often refers to magnesium sulfate heptahydrate, because it is not easy to deliquescence and is easier to weigh than anhydrous magnesium sulfate, which is convenient for quantitative control in industry.

 

Magnesium sulfate (magnesium sulphate 7-water) is a mineral fertilizer that is used for root and non-root fertilizing of
vegetables, fruit trees, and ornamental crops. It is presented in the form of a white powder, soluble in water. The product is
explosion-and fire-safe, but you need to work with it in protective glasses and a mask, avoiding contact with the mucous membranes and skin. Optimal application of this fertilizer on neutral, sod-podzolic and slightly acidic soils. Magnesium sulfate increases the resistance of plants to fungi, pests, and adverse weather conditions. It also accelerates seed germination, improves the taste and quality of the finished product. When digging the soil, it is applied to cucumbers and tomatoes in an amount of 7-10 g/m2, for other vegetables, a dose of 10-15 g/m2, for trees - 30-35 grams per 1 m2 of the trunk circle. Root fertilizing is carried out during the growing season every 15-20 days, with a solution of 25 g/10 l of water, foliar (leaf spraying) - with a solution of 15g/10 l of water.
